Here at Project Simeon 2000 (PS2) we embody and display that development is a process where people come together to take action on what's important to them. At its heart, community development is rooted in the belief that all people should have access to health, wellbeing, wealth, justice and opportunity.
Its not just a statement to us but a way of life!
While there are many ways to approach community development, simplified we display a community driven development (CDD) model based on concepts of participation, transparency, barrier removal, accountability, local power, and enhanced capacity.
We volunteer, we worship and share a belief system based on humanity, we champion sports, we work in our community, we strive for better business in our community and we live and protect our brand.
We have long understood that one of the key challenges in any community driven development model lies in developing trust.
Other challenges include balancing differences in perspective, priorities, assumptions, values, beliefs, and language, determining who “speaks” for the community, and documenting intervention success.
As well as capacity building and having equal access for all members of our communities.
